Professor Samuel Adams holds a PhD in Public Administration and Urban Policy with a minor in International Business from the Old Dominion University, VA-USA and a Master of Business Administration from Lincoln University, Jefferson City, MO-USA.
Samuel Adams joined GIMPA in 2007 and promoted to Professor in 2018. Over the years, he has taught many courses including Public Policy, Public Administration, Strategic Management, International Business and Research Methods.
Professor Adams is the Dean of the GIMPA School of Public Service and Governance, a position he assumed on October 1, 2014. This is the same position he held briefly in an acting capacity from October 2013 to January 2014. Before that, he was the Acting Dean of the GIMPA Business School from September 2012 to September 2013. He also served briefly as the Academic and Administrative Head of GIMPA during the period September 2016 – March 2017.
Prof. Adams has served and continues to serve on many national and international boards. He was a member of the United Nations Task Force on Sustainable Development Goals Curriculum Project (2017-2018), Country Reviewer for Ghana -Global Transparency Initiative, and Assessor for the National Accreditation Board. He is also an external examiner for many Ghanaian and international Universities.
Prof. Adams is a versatile researcher with both qualitative and quantitative skills and has over 70 publications. He has published on various topics on privatization, decentralization, leadership, institutions, elections, economic growth and development, environment, energy, capital flows and democracy. He serves on the Editorial Boards of many local and international journals and he is also is a reviewer for over 30 journals.
