Gimpa Student Actress Ruth Oti believes instagram is causing the high number of models


Fastest rising actress in Ghana with a beautiful dark skin body who played the role of Sadia in the much-publicized TV drama series aired on TV3 “SADIA”, says she believes instagram is the cause of the high number of models in the fashion industry.

Ruth Oti Yeboah, affectionately called Roototi shot to fame following her lead role in award-winning 2017’s television series, SADIA. There, she shared set with industry’s top guns including Fred Amugi, Kalsum Sinare, Uncle Paul and Akumaa Mama Zimbi, etc.

Ruth in an interview with Mercury Quaye of HitzFm said that, to be a model, one must go through some process to become a professional.

I think here in Ghana, because of Instagram, everybody
thinks they are models. And I feel to be a model, you need to go through certain training and some professional ethics.For you to know what you are supposed to put out to the world as a model.

Ruth Oti aka Roototi executed the character as Sadia, in TV3’s introduction of this new local soap opera was groundbreaking, both for the project and her own career. Playing the role of Sadia earned her a nomination in the 2018 Ghana Movie Awards “Best Lead Actress” category, a contest she went head-on against Nana Ama McBrown, Jackie Appiah and others.

Roototi’s journey took off in 2011 when she joined a modeling agency in South Africa. There she featured in a minor role. Whiles in South Africa she pursued tertiary education.

Later in 2015, she got a career surge with a major feature in a Ghana/UK film, “Psychopathic Entity”. Coming through the following year was “Saloon” TV drama which was aired on TV3 throughout 2016. She played to the admiration of many, the role of “Maggie” in that drama series.
