The first session of the first cohort of the Doctor of Management programme opened at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), last Friday.
The programme, which is being run by the Business School, has ten participants.
These participants represent the very first batch of students to pursue the programme at the Institute.
Addressing the participants on behalf of the Rector, the Dean of the School of Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. Wisdom Akpalu, noted that several reasons account for why the participants have chosen to pursue the programme.
“However at GIMPA, our reason is to give you the best to enable you to contribute to national development.”
He assured them of the readiness of GIMPA to help them in the journey saying “GIMPA boasts of very fine lecturers who will take you through rigorous training.”
Prof. Akpalu stressed the need for commitment and endurance in pursuing such a programme since the PhD programme is not always an easy one. He, therefore, encouraged the participants to put in their best.
In a welcome address by Prof. Martin Morgan Tuuli, the Dean of the Business School, he indicated that the Institute was enthusiastic about the fact that the participants identify with the objective of the Institute.
He was optimistic that the knowledge base of the participants will be broadened at the end of the session and assured them of a conducive learning environment.
The opening was done by the Deputy Rector of GIMPA, Prof. Philip Duku Osei.
